To best assist you, please have a copy of your ticket and/or any other documents you have received from court regarding your case. We will need you to provide a copy of your driving history from DMV or your auto insurance company. If you have a valid New York state license, we can order a copy of your Driver's Abstract at cost. In most cases, you will also have to sign a Waiver form before a Notary Public so that we may appear on your behalf. This document can usually be emailed, faxed, or mailed to you. You can also come sign the form at our office in downtown Albany where we can notarize it free of charge.

Fines, Fees, and other Costs

Fines, Surcharges, and other special fees for tickets in Upstate New York are assessed after a final judgment is entered - whether you return your ticket the the court with a plea of Guilty, have a judgment entered after a trial, or obtain a plea offer from the court. Fine amounts vary, depending largely on the type of offense with minor violations usually incurring lower fines than high speeds or misdemeanor charges. State Vehicle & Traffic law gives local courts power to assess fines within certain parameters, and so fines can also vary by court and specific case. On our website, NySpeedingTicketFines.com, we have posted real Fine Notices from some of our closed traffic ticket cases from courts in the Upstate area. On the Fine Notices, you can usually see what the original charge was able to be reduced to, as well as the fine and applicable surcharge (if any). This may help you get an idea of what kind of costs are involved with particular types of tickets.

Special Assessment fees are another consideration in New York state. If you are convicted of 3 speeding tickets within 18 months or 6 points worth of speeding tickets, New York state will issue a Driver Safety fee of $300.00 (payable at $100/year for 3 years). Additional fees apply for additional points incurred.
